What Trophy Bench 80 brings to plate and trophy jobs

Trophy Bench 80 sits in the 80W CO2 laser class. That means enough power for crisp, repeatable engraving on acrylic, wood and coated metals, plus the confidence to cut and mark most award plates and gift materials up to about 10 to 12 mm thick. The working bed suits trophy plates, plaques, medals and small awards but is still compact enough to fit a busy counter or school lab. Mount jigs are supplied so you can batch-run nameplates and medal rounds with repeatable alignment.

Seasonal spikes are its game. Whether it is an end-of-year prize rush or a corporate plaque push just before school holidays, Trophy Bench 80 handles back-to-back runs without fuss. The mount jigs keep trophy plates in register, while season cards (printable job notes) keep your short-run jobs sorted for the next handover. Fume extraction is standard: remember to vent outside, especially with MDF and acrylic, as the smoke can build up during long batch sessions.

Which materials are suited and what to avoid

The 80W CO2 laser is ideal for cutting and engraving cast acrylic (frosted white results), extruded acrylic (clean, polished edges), woods, MDF, plywood, cork, coated metals and laser-safe rubber for award stamp work. Most trophy and nameplate jobs use 1 to 8 mm acrylic, 1.5 mm aluminium with anodised or powder-coated finishes, or 2 to 6 mm wood or MDF. Cast acrylic is the first choice for frosted engravings and standout award text.

Do not try to cut or engrave bare metal, PVC or anything containing chlorine, as this will damage both the machine and your health. Polycarbonate and expanded polystyrene foam are also off the list: polycarbonate chars and discolours, while foam is a fire risk. For glass awards, use a rotary if needed, and apply a wet paper towel for a smoother frost. Always check material thickness and type before setup, and leave protective film on acrylic to limit scorch marks where possible.

  • Cast and extruded acrylic: 1 to 12 mm, best at 10 mm or less
  • Wood, MDF, plywood: up to 10 mm
  • Coated metals: engrave only (do not cut)
  • Laser-safe rubber: ideal for stamp plates
  • Never use PVC, vinyl, or polycarbonate

How to judge if Trophy Bench 80 is the right fit for your shop

Choose Trophy Bench 80 if your main work is trophy plates, medals, school and sport awards, and you regularly see spikes around prize-giving season or festive orders. Its bed size is aimed at batch jobs, while 80W is more than enough for all local cast acrylic plates, most wood sizes, and multi-up runs of medals or badges. If you want to get through a queue of trophies without flattening your to-do list, this is the cell to look at.

If your jobs often need beds wider than a full sheet of acrylic or you want to cut big lightbox signs, you may want something larger. For single bespoke awards or very high-run keyrings, a smaller benchtop or a speed-optimised cell could be a better fit. Trophy Bench 80 is built for the South African trophy and award cycle, with simple fixturing and job cards to keep the next operator on track.
